An «official» PyBoard application for Windows. PyBoard allows you to use your BT hardware to control and/or see Python programs over the Internet.

PyBoard is distributed with Python libraries to generate images and slideshows.

Once you’ve downloaded the plug-in and installed it, you’ll see a new option under Tools in the main menu: «PyBoard».

In the PyBoard options, you can set a static IP address or a Dynamic DNS entry as well as override the default port.

The default port has been set to 9010.

That port should work with most routers, but if you’re using Linksys, Cisco or other routers, you can set it to 9100.

Update: If you’re using a Linksys, Cisco or other routers, you can try setting the port to 9100, but you’ll still have to use the default setting of 9010.

If you’re using Dynamic DNS, then you’ll need to enter in a Domain Name so that PyBoard can show up in your buddy list.
You can add your own Domain Name, or use eDID.com’s in-house Dynamic DNS service.

If you’re using a static IP address, the address that you enter in the Port (check the Port option) will need to be the same as the one on the router.

Update: Anyone running Dynamic DNS can change to a static IP address.

You can also set up Pidglet to auto-update by doing the following:

1. You need to update the pidglet_url.ini file located in Hklm\Software\Pidglet\Config

2. Enter in the name of the file to update in the text box on the Advanced tab, click OK.

3. You can now choose to re-read the file, or auto-read every time you start up Pidglet.

Settings

Update: Because of problems with the firewall, you may have to delete and then re-add the Pidglet plug-in in the firewalls.

In the Settings panel, you can enable Debugging, set the buffer size, and save the last received message.

If you are using the 32-bit Windows Sidebar Gadget, there are a few steps that you must follow to install the Windows Sidebar gadgets.

After you download the Windows Sidebar Gadget from Microsoft’s website, you must follow these instructions to finish the installation process.

Pidglet requires and installed the latest version of the Pidglet Windows Sidebar Gadget.

Pidglet will add your buddy list (if configured) to Pidgin in either
a Sidebar Gadget, or in a Pidgin windows that is minimized to the system
tray.
This program is based on the initial work of Pidgin’s Andrew Moss.

Features:

Pidglet is both a Sidebar Gadget and a Windows Sidebar program, and is
therefore cross-platform. You can run Pidglet in both a Windows Sidebar
Gadget and as a Windows Sidebar application. As long as the Sidebar
appears in the task bar or windows list, the buddy list in a
Sidebar gadget is available. You can also access the buddy list
continuously by simply viewing your buddy list in the task bar.
Pidglet will detect Windows system tray icons, and will place a Pidglet
icon in the system tray. The icon indicates that your buddy list is
available.
Pidglet will make use of Pidgin’s buddy list, if it is configured
(see below) to display the buddy list in the Sidebar. Pidglet will
display the buddy list using Pidgin’s contact grouping, and will
support grouping buddies by their status, group, name, and nickname.
Once the Pidglet Sidebar Gadget or Pidgin windows appear, you can
drag, resize, and arrange the Pidglet gadget or window to suit your
needs.
You can access your Pidglet through Taskbar buttons, menu items,
or keyboard shortcuts (see below). You can also choose to have Pidglet
autostart when you login.
At any time, you can close the Pidglet by clicking the Pidglet icon on
the system tray, or by closing the Pidglet window. You can reopen the
Pidglet by simply selecting the Pidglet icon in the system tray or
opening a Pidglet window.
The Pidglet program will place information in Pidglet’s help files,
about your version of Pidglet and your buddy list.

Limitations:

Pidglet is a status based plugin, and can only be used in buddy lists
that have status toggling turned on.
